Estimating & Invoicing Software for Waterproofing Contractors
Waterproofing jobs combine digging, membranes, drainage and repairs, and the costs hide below grade. Trades HQ keeps every piece on one estimate and shows your real profit at the end.
Below-grade surprises. Cracks, roots and soil conditions show up once you dig.
Several systems. Membranes, coatings, drainage board, drain tile and sumps each have their own cost.
Excavation and backfill. Digging, hauling and restoring the yard are a big share of the job.
Interior or exterior. The method changes the whole bid.
How Trades HQ helps waterproofing contractors
Ready-made waterproofing items in your Price Book, like crystalline coating, liquid and self-adhered membranes, drainage board, dimple mat, hydraulic cement, perforated drain pipe, filter fabric and sump basin kits. Add your prices once and reuse them.
Bid work out to other subs, for example an excavator for the dig.
Change orders for cracks or conditions found once the wall is exposed.
Proposals customers approve online, then one click to invoice.
Deposits and progress billing on bigger jobs.
Live job profit as labor, equipment and materials come in.
An exterior foundation waterproofing estimate, step by step
Measure the foundation perimeter and the wall depth.
Figure the membrane area and rolls.
Add drainage board, drain pipe, fabric and stone.
Add excavation, backfill and haul-away.
Add crack repair and labor.
Apply your overhead and profit.
Example (illustrative): a 30 × 40 ft foundation, 8 ft deep, with self-adhered membrane in 200 sq ft rolls.

Result
Perimeter
2 × (30 + 40)
140 ft
Wall area
140 × 8
1,120 sq ft
Membrane rolls
1,120 ÷ 200
5.6 rolls
Plus 10% for laps
5.6 × 1.10 = 6.2, round up
7 rolls
Perforated drain pipe
Perimeter plus the run to daylight or sump
140 ft plus the run
Pricing tip: Put excavation, backfill and yard restoration on separate lines, so a hard dig shows up in the price. And remember that markup and margin aren't the same number: a 20% margin needs a 25% markup. The Estimating Basics guide walks through the math, and the free markup and margin calculator does it for you.

Questions waterproofing contractors ask
How do I estimate membrane for a foundation?
Multiply the foundation perimeter by the wall depth to get the area, divide by the coverage per roll, and add extra for laps. Use the manufacturer’s numbers for the product you install.
How do I bill for cracks found after digging?
Add a change order for the extra repair. Once the customer approves it, it’s included when you bill.
Does it work with QuickBooks?
Trades HQ exports your invoices in a format ready to import into QuickBooks, so your bookkeeper doesn’t have to retype them.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and you don’t need a credit card to start. Plans start at $75 a month, and you can cancel anytime.
