Siding Estimating & Invoicing Software for Siding Contractors
Siding bids are squares plus a long list of trim and accessories. Trades HQ keeps it all on one estimate, with your own prices, and shows your real profit when the job is done.
Gables and openings. Triangles, windows and doors make the wall area tricky.
Trim and accessories. Starter strip, J-channel, corners, soffit and fascia are easy to leave off.
Waste. Cuts around openings and gables add up.
Tear-off and repairs. Old siding removal and rotten sheathing belong on the bid.

A siding estimate, step by step
Measure each wall: length × height.
Add the gable triangles: ½ × base × height.
Subtract large openings like garage doors and big windows.
Convert to squares (1 square = 100 sq ft) and add waste.
Add trim, wrap, accessories, tear-off and labor.
Apply your overhead and profit.
Example (illustrative): a 30 × 40 ft house with 9 ft walls and two gables 7.5 ft tall.
Step
Math
Result
Long walls
2 × 40 × 9
720 sq ft
End walls
2 × 30 × 9
540 sq ft
Gables
2 × ½ × 30 × 7.5
225 sq ft
Minus openings
1,485 − 180
1,305 sq ft
Plus 10% waste
1,305 × 1.10
1,435.5 sq ft
Squares
1,435.5 ÷ 100
about 14.4, so order 15
Pricing tip: Count trim and accessories by the piece, not as a percentage, because they don't grow with wall area. And remember that markup and margin aren't the same number: a 20% margin needs a 25% markup. The Estimating Basics guide walks through the math, and the free markup and margin calculator does it for you.

Questions siding contractors ask
How do I figure siding squares?
Add up the wall areas, including the gable triangles, subtract large openings, then divide by 100. Add waste for cuts, more for houses with lots of corners and openings.
How do I bill for rotten sheathing found during tear-off?
Add a change order for the extra work. Once the customer approves it, it’s included when you bill.
Can I get prices from several suppliers at once?
Yes. Send one price request to all your suppliers, pick the best quote, and turn it into a purchase order.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and you don’t need a credit card to start. Plans start at $75 a month, and you can cancel anytime.
