Tile Estimating Software for Tile Setters and Installers
Tile jobs are won or lost on prep, layout and waste. Trades HQ helps you price every layer of the job, from backer board to grout, and see whether it made money.
Prep and waterproofing. Demo, backer board, waterproofing membrane and leveling are often more work than setting.
Tile size and pattern. Large-format tile, mosaics and patterns change labor and waste.
Small rooms, many cuts. Bathrooms and showers have lots of edges, niches and corners.
Setting materials. Thinset, grout, trim pieces and sealer add up.

Live job profit as labor and materials come in.
A tile estimate, step by step
Measure every surface: floor, shower walls, backsplash.
Add waste: often about 10% for simple layouts and 15% or more for small rooms, diagonals or patterns.
Add prep: demo, backer board, waterproofing and leveling.
Add thinset, grout, trim pieces and sealer.
Estimate labor for prep, setting and grouting.
Apply your overhead and profit.
Example (illustrative): a 5 × 8 ft bathroom floor.

Pricing tip: Price prep and waterproofing separately from setting; they're often the bigger part of the job. And remember that markup and margin aren't the same number: a 20% margin needs a 25% markup. The Estimating Basics guide walks through the math, and the free markup and margin calculator does it for you.

Questions tile setters ask
How much extra tile should I order?
Many tile setters add about 10% for simple layouts and 15% or more for small rooms, diagonal layouts or patterns. Keep a few extra pieces for future repairs.
How do I price a shower versus a floor?
Measure each surface separately and give each its own lines, including prep and waterproofing. Showers usually need more prep and more cuts than floors.
Can I use Trades HQ on my phone?
Yes. Trades HQ runs in your phone’s web browser, and you can add it to your home screen like an app, so you can build an estimate or send an invoice from the truck.
